Trailer Stuff Part II
More pics. This was today after it rained. I did leak testing on the door and decided to put an eyebrow over the top. Leak free now! I am still waiting for my water filter to show up so the cabinet is not complete pending installation of water filter. As you can see I have quite a bit of trim work and touch up paint to do. I just finished the shower stall except for the front piece and shower curtain rod. The extruded 1″ polystyrene pink insulation REALLY works in this trailer, she’s quiet and warm. The air conditioner has dividers in the box separating the condenser intake from the exhaust and both vent under the trailer. The a/c gets to 48F. Brrrr. Battery bank is 6 AGM 12v 77Ah batteries in parallel. Power inverter is THIS, a Xantrex RS2000 pure sine wave 2000 watt charge/inverter. Nice unit. I fabricated a stainless water tank that sits under the aluminum cover on the front triangle. The interior lighting is some of my neato Cree Q5 LED’s wired to a 1000ma buckpuck and a 5k dimmer pot. I made the housings out of scrap aluminum and filled them with crafting 2 part epoxy so they’ll last forever. The whole lighting system draws a whopping 0.6 amps! That’s less than 10 watts! LED’s rule!
What else… Oh, wheels came off a Dodge Intrepid, 16in. Electric trailer brakes stop my VW fast. The last picture in this post is the original frame but I ended up cutting the front down to match the roofline of the car. I fabricated this entire trailer in my garage starting with a 3500lb. Dexter Torflex axle. Taillights are LED and are mounted on fabricated aluminum pedestals. Man, what a journey. I did this whole thing in less than 2 months. Enjoy!
